Contagion unmasked
Contributed by: Tamara Culp on 5/9/2008

Generosity is contagious. Local artist Evette Goldstein is an ardent supporter of many local charities close to her heart.

She managed to infect the Greater Castle Rock Art Guild with a bout of creativity in support of the Denver Hospice's premiere event, The Mask Project. Who knew infections could be so rewarding?

The Mask Project kicked off its 10th Anniversary on May 1st with a month-long event that will culminate in a Gala at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center on the 31st. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised for end-of-life care throughout the Denver metro area through this community effort. If you have ever placed a loved one in the care of the Denver Hospice you realize there are few more worthy repositories for our charitable contributions.

From now until May 31st you can bid on the beautiful, funny, "fan"tastic or just plain "I gotta have it" masks. The entire collection is available for online viewing and bidding at www.themaskproject.org. The public may also view the masks up close and personal at the free "The Mask Project Gallery" in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.

Oh, and those infected GCRAG artists? Fortunately once creativity comes alive inside you it's there forever but I'm sure they will cope and go on to lead productive lives crafted around their "infections".

The following is an alphabetical listing of the Greater Castle Rock Art Guild members who donated masks to this wonderful cause:

Fritz Anders #44 "You Are My Sunshine"
