4-H public speakers to compete at State Fair
Contributed by: Melody Jones on 6/13/2008

Several 4-Her's will represent Douglas County at the 2008 Colorado State Fair or at the Colorado 4-H Conference based on their speaking abilities. 4-H members earned these opportunities by competing at the annual Douglas County 4-H Speech and Demonstration Contest held in Castle Rock on May 7.

Through informative presentations, those present learned about subjects ranging from "Going Green: How to be more Eco-friendly in the Barn" to "Rabbits Make Me Happy" to "Tips, Tricks and Showday Hints". Impromptu speeches, where members drew a subject on-the-spot and had a short time to prepare, highlighted 4-Her's abilities to think on their feet.

Congratulations to first place contestants for advancing to the State Fair and to all participants for their hard work.
