Walked and Talked
Contributed by: Tamara Culp on 6/15/2008

Saturday (June 14) was one of those perfect Colorado days, blue skies and sunshine. Many Castle Rock residents took advantage of the weather to visit the Greater Castle Rock Art Guild's Annual Art Walk - Art Talk held last Saturday on the courthouse lawn.

White canvas canopies shone brightly on the manicured grass. Artists set up their easels and drawing boards, jeweler's benches and glass torches in preparation to demonstrate their craft. Everyone had completed works offered for sale.

The mood was friendly and conversational as visitors walked and the artists talked. Folks spent many leisurely minutes at each booth chatting with the artists, asking their questions and learning more about art and the guild. Children were encouraged to paint at Rosemarie Lohnert's table. They used her palate of watercolors and her brushes. What a thrill to use a real artist's own tools!

The art guild will have a booth at the Plum Creek Valley Farmer's Market 2 Saturdays a month beginning July 12th. Different artists will be on hand to demonstrate their expertise and to provide opportunity for visiting children to try their hand creating a small project. The Farmer's Market is moving this year to a beautiful new location at Festival Park on the corner of 2nd and Perry. You can park in the new parking garage and stroll to the market.
