Douglas County 4-H will host a booth at the Highlands Ranch Whole Foods Farmers and Food Artisans Road Tour 2008 on Sunday, August 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The goal of the event is to raise awareness and support for the local farmers and food artisans Whole Foods Market works with. Whole Foods has broadened this goal to include supporting a local agriculturally based non-profit group working in the Highlands Ranch community.
The 4-H program was originally established as an agricultural education program for the nation's rural youth. While this remains a strong component of the program, today's 4-H also focuses on positive youth development for kids in urban, suburban and rural areas.
The Douglas County 4-H Program is expanding in Highlands Ranch. Kids ages 8-18 can learn about a wide variety of subjects including photography, foods, entomology, small engines, dogs, shooting sports and more.
Parents can talk with 4-H parents and get information on 4-H at the booth, and children can meet 4-H kids, enjoy fun crafts and 4-H coloring pages, and possibly meet a few 4-H animals.
The Highlands Ranch Whole Foods Market is located at 9366 S. Colorado Blvd,
Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.
For information on the Douglas County 4-H program, log on to www.douglascountyextension.org, call 720-733-6940, and take a look at the new 4-H blog at www.dc4-h.blogspot.com.
