This angel encounter is from a friend and neighbor here in Franktown: MaryAnthi Dielmann. She is one of those women that when you first meet her, you can see the love of Christ in her heart shining through her eyes. She is married to a landscaper extraordinaire (Tom has created a paradise in their backyard!). They have one daughter and two and one-half grandchildren (one due in January 2009).
A very creative individual, MaryAnthi makes silk floral arrangements and designs jewelry. She's an active member in the women's society of St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church. Her church group knits and crochets blankets for babies of unwed mothers and for the homeless. This fall, MaryAnthi's plan is to volunteer at the Children's Hospital. She says that she wants to hold the babies that need someone to bond with, and she wants to read to the children. She's what I call a 'woman who makes a difference.'
MaryAnthi's angel(s) encounter occurred twenty years ago, when a friend of hers wanted to move back to California from Boulder. Her friend, Sally, a newly recovering alcoholic, had recently found God and felt it was time to start a new life. Sally asked MaryAnthi to help her move. So, a few days later they packed up a very large moving truck and headed for California.
The truck was not mechanically sound: the radio didn't work and the air conditioning only put out hot air. That night, when it was MaryAnthi's turn to drive, they were heading up and over Flagstaff Arizona Pass. At about two o'clock in the morning, while Sally slept, the truck started acting up. Scared and alone on a dangerous pass in the middle of the night, MaryAnthi started praying. "Please, God," she prayed, "help me to drive the truck and keep us on the road and safe."
Just then, she noticed something out her side window. She turned her head to look. Her mouth dropped open when she saw two angels flying beside the truck between her and the rocky mountainside! Speechless, she glanced to her right, and saw two more angels flying on the right side of the truck--between the truck and the cliff. Immediately, a sense of peace overwhelmed her as the four angels--clothed in white robes with long flowing hair--escorted them to the bottom of the pass.
MaryAnthi knew in her heart that she and her friend would be fine for the rest of the journey. When they reached the bottom of the pass, she prayed a prayer of thanks to God for showing his love for them in such a beautiful way by sending his angels to keep them safe.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your angel encounters. Those of you who still have an encounter to share, even if it seems insignificant to you, please e-mail it (
mail@jonnaturner.com) and I will post it. Your name will not be used if that is your wish. Sharing your encounter may give someone hope when they are going through a particularly rough time in their life.
