Village Fitness Club will hold its first "healthy cooking" class for the community Wednesday, Jan. 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Chef
Terry Miller will lead the class in an evening of cooking steak, chicken, pork, sausage, wild game meat, fish, and soups. Participants will learn about food safety and handling, grilling, and how to prepare crockpot and gourmet meals. Miller also will provide tips on preparing quick meals, including all-microwave meals.
Miller, a professional chef based in Fort Collins, specializes in simple home cooking with meals that families can prepare and eat together. "These are quick, healthy, easy ideas that help families eat together at the table," he explains. "It is possible for even the busiest of families to prepare and eat a full, nutritious, great-tasting meal in just one hour."
Over the past 11 years, Miller has served as a guest chef at the Aspen Food and Wine Festival and South Beach Food and Wine Festival. He has appeared on the Food Network and "Good Morning America," and has cooked with such notable chefs as
Emeril,
Rachael Ray,
Tyler Florence, and
Bobby Flay. He also has his own nationally distributed line of sausage, marketed as Schmickels Wild Game Sausage.
Cost for the Jan. 17 session is $25 per person, or $40 per couple. The class is open to non-members as well as members of Village Fitness. Interested individuals can register for the class by calling Village Fitness at 303-688-4949.
