Kathy Zawadzki, nationally renown pro and Olympic cycling coach and sports nutritionist, will present “Food for Fitness” for the first time in Castle Rock Thursday, Nov. 17, 6-7 p.m., at Village Fitness Club.
Held during Village Fitness’ week-long one-year anniversary celebration, the seminar will teach attendees to use food as fuel to reach specific fitness goals, and to think of food in different ways. Participants will learn how to:
· Navigate a clear road map through nutritional myths;
· Tailor food choices with type and level of activity;
· Balance carbohydrates, proteins, and fats with activity;
· Eat for optimal performance.
“Whether training for a marathon, looking for improved performance on the ski slopes, or simply trying to get the most out of group exercise classes, everyone involved in fitness has a goal of some kind,” says Zawadzki. “We’ll cut through the clutter and help people drive toward their goals.”
Zawadzki is a coach with Carmichael Training Systems, the organization that has coached seven-time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong. With more than 15 years’ experience, she has coached individual and team junior, master, and Olympic athletes. At the U.S. Olympic Training Center, Zawadzki worked with USA Cycling and USA Triathlon athletes, and served as head cycling coach for the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney.
Zawadzki is a licensed USA Cycling elite-level coach and sports nutritionist, and is certified as a health and fitness instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine and National Association of Sports Nutrition Health and Fitness. She holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Houston and master of science degree in exercise science from the University of Texas at Austin.
“Food for Fitness” – like all events at Village Fitness during the anniversary week – is open to the public at no charge. RSVP, however, is required by calling Village Fitness at 303-688-4949.
