Village Fitness Club will offer a pre-natal fitness class, open to the public, in October.
The four-week session will integrate the popular Pilates method developed by exercise pioneer Joseph Pilates with the ancient practice of yoga to prepare the participant for delivery and post-natal conditioning. Following the guidelines of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a certified instructor will help participants safely experience and deepen body awareness while increasing flexibility, strength, and balance.
The October session will meet twice a week, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Oct. 2-25.
The classes are designed to help pregnant women maintain a consistent and appropriate fitness program throughout their pregnancies, according to Lori Makkai, Village Fitness Club's Pilates coordinator. "The pre-natal classes meet with Village Fitness' commitment to provide programs that meet the needs of Douglas County with a philosophy of wellness, development of healthy lifestyles, prevention of problems, and improvement of overall fitness."
Cost for the class is $49 for Village Fitness Club members and $69 for non-members. Child care is available for an additional nominal cost. Interested individuals can call Village Fitness at 303-688-4949 for more information or to register, with a registration deadline of Saturday, Sept. 30. A signed waiver is required prior to participation in the class.
