Omega Martial Arts, Castle Rock's original martial arts school, has moved to a new location at 1049 Park Street behind Autobahn Auto Body and is under new management.
Charles Arnt, a life-long Douglas County resident and 20 year practitioner of the martial arts who holds the rank of 3 rd Degree Black Belt took over the day to day management of the school in July of 2006. 5 th Degree Master Cheryl Volesky and 3 rd Degree Natalie Young, also a long time resident and owner of Little Bears Preschool round out the Leadership Team. Between these three we offer over 53 years of accumulated experience. They are assisted by several more young Black Belts who help instruct the younger students. Omega has been offering a high quality martial arts experience in Castle Rock for over 25 years.
Omega's mission statement, which reads: "Teaching quality Martial Arts without the use of Eastern Religious overtones, mysticism or indoctrination in a fun, family, caring and safe environment", is the backbone of our philosophy. Personal responsibility is the fundamental product that we are aiming for.
Omega has long been known for it's mixed martial arts style that dominated the local Colorado Karate Association (CKA), national and international tournament scene for many years, and currently heads up the Colorado division of international tournaments held by The World Congress of Martial Arts. Tournament participants, some as young as 6 to 8 year olds, hold titles at all levels of competition. Benefits of Martial Arts training for children include: self-confidence, physical fitness, self-discipline, better focus, better grades, and more respect for others.
Omega offers Tae Kwon Do for all ages starting with Kid-Kickers for the 4-7 year olds and the adult program for ages 8 to 80+. We also offer Tai Chi, Judo/jujitsu, the Okinawan weapons system, and a "Women's only" self defense program.
We are proud to introduce "Morning Fitness Flow-Sparring", a heart pumping, sweat pouring, stamina building mixture of Tae-Bo & Kick Boxing with a
safe sparring partner sure to melt the pounds off. Come check it out and burn up to 800 calories per hour and learn how to defend yourself in the process. And for those a little more adventurous, try "Jujitsu Flow-Sparring". Offering the same workout you get with Flow-Sparring, and adding throwing, joint locks, floor grappling, while maintaining the safety factor by pairing up with a 'safe' partner. Perfect for the off-season wrestler.
There is also the opportunity to take classes during the day for the convenience of those who do not have evenings available to them, "Home-schoolers" and their parents.
