New sessions of Village Fitness Club's popular heart zone training classes will begin March 7. Both the base and advanced sessions are open to club members and non-members.
Base Training In the five-week base class, participants will establish their maximum heart rates and ideal heart rate training zones. Individuals will receive guidance on zone training as well as nutrition during training, and receive log books for monitoring exercise and eating.
Participants are required to attend one of three mandatory orientation meetings: Wednesday, March 7, at 7 or 10:30 a.m.; or 5:30 p.m. Class sessions will meet twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. or 5:30 p.m.), beginning the week of March 12. No classes will be held the week of March 26 to accommodate spring break for local schools.
Advanced Training In the advanced five-week session, participants will be able to establish their aerobic and anaerobic thresholds, set individual fat-burning zones, and learn how to train to improve thresholds and overall fitness levels. The pre-requisite for the Advanced Training class is completion of Base Training. Participants may elect to take multiple sessions of either course.
