Village Fitness Club will bring back its popular heart zone training classes this fall, with sessions beginning this week.
The classes are designed to help individuals get the most from their exercise, eating, and lifestyle regimens, according to Susie Nelson, general manager of Village Fitness Club.
The program starts with proper cardio workouts and continues through instruction on how to combine exercise and eating for weight management. Results from past participants have been impressive, she says, with some participants losing up to 15 pounds and 4 percent body fat within six weeks.
Level 1
In the six-week class, participants will establish their maximum heart rates and ideal heart rate training zones, learn to effectively use a heart rate monitor, and structure workouts for maximum results. Individuals will receive guidance on zone training as well as nutrition during training, and receive log books to monitor exercise and eating.
Village Fitness will offer three options for the twice-weekly Level 1 classes: Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 a.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Level 2
In this six-week class, participants will establish their aerobic and anaerobic thresholds, set individual fat-burning zones, and learn how to train to improve thresholds and overall fitness levels. The pre-requisite is completion of a Level 1 session.
Classes will meet twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10-11 a.m.).
Cost per session is $175 per person (Village Fitness Club member) or $225 (non-member). Sessions begin the week of Aug. 27 and again in late October. Interested individuals can register by calling Village Fitness at 303-688-4949.
