Lieutenant Governor Barbara O'Brien has appointed 25 people to Colorado's first Early Childhood Councils Advisory Team, including Priscilla Queen, Literacy Coordinator at Douglas County Libraries ( DouglasCountyLibraries.org, 303-791-READ). The team will help support and strengthen local efforts for children statewide, and is appointed by two-year terms.

"These volunteers will provide advice and support to local early childhood councils to improve and sustain the availability, accessibility, capacity and quality of early childhood services for children and families throughout the state. There is no more important goal than to make Colorado the best place for families to raise their children," said Lt. Gov. O'Brien.

Queen, who also teaches children's literature at Metro State College, has worked at Douglas County Libraries for 17 years. Queen is also an active member of the Douglas County Early Childhood Coalition.

"I am thrilled about the opportunity to work on this council that will promote healthy care and positive early experiences for all children. Douglas County Libraries has been a leader with early literacy programs for young children and their families and child care providers. I expect to share our experiences and learn much from others around Colorado," said Queen.
