October brings the colors of fall - and the colors of new art displays hanging at Douglas County Libraries.
Local photographer, Ann McPeters, will show her work at Parker Library (10851 South Crossroads Drive) in October. Ann, who happens to be a teenager, varies her subjects from people to landscapes. She says she looks for things that catch her eye. Ann has been a photographer for over a year and this is her first showing. Please stop by and enjoy her beautiful work.
At the Neighborhood Library at Lone Tree (8827 Lone Tree Parkway), Andi Sahlen will show her digital fine art October 4-31. She has combined her lifelong love of photography with a zeal for computers to produce her pieces. Sahlen uses a digital camera to create a basic work, and then digitizes the photos using Photoshop to edit and generate special effects. She may spend up to a year reworking a piece until she is satisfied with the results.
"The 2
nd Annual Front Range Art Exhibit" will be on display at the Philip S. Miller Library (100 S. Wilcox St., Castle Rock) from October 10 through November 12. The show features 145 works of local artists, and is co-sponsored by the Greater Castle Rock Art Guild and the National Arts Program Foundation of Malvern, Pennsylvania. Come into the library and cast a ballot for the People's Choice Award. Winners of scholarships and the People's Choice Award will be announced at a special reception, open to the public, on Friday, September 24, from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. (Yes, that's after the library closes!) Everyone is welcome to come and encourage the development of artistic talents in our community.
