Help preserve the Town's namesake
-- Historic recreational use on the north slope of Castle Rock has caused widespread erosion and extensive loss of native plant cover. By participating in the Castle Rock Restoration project on Saturday, June 2, you can help stop the erosion and restore native plants at this important landmark. Before work begins, volunteers will enjoy breakfast at Rock Park at 7:30 a.m., then be treated to a noon lunch. Wildlands Restoration Volunteers, the Town of Castle Rock and Keepers of the Rock are project partners. To volunteer, call 303-543-1411, or visit

Dedication heralds success of Mosman Pavilion effort
-- Two years of hard work and grass roots fundraising culminates Saturday, June 9, in the dedication of the C.J. Mosman Memorial Pavilion at Metzler Ranch Park. All are invited to join the Mosman and Freeman families as they celebrate the completion of the pavilion, a memorial to baseball-loving C.J., who lost his life in a car accident in 2004. Family members raised more than $24,000 for the pavilion. The Town of Castle Rock contributed more than $65,000 to the project while American Civil Constructors provided in-kind donations covering some of the needed labor and materials. Churchich Recreation built the pavilion. The pavilion dedication starts at 9 a.m. and will feature food and family activities. Volunteer help is needed.
