MAN PUTS LUNCHABLES IN PANTS
On April 23 at 1:42 p.m. a deputy went to Evergreen Mountain Market at 5071 County Road 73 and spoke to a 49-year-old woman who said a former employee and his 19-year-old friend were standing near the refrigerated display case. She confronted the pair and asked, "What do you think you are doing?" The friend said, "What do you mean?"
He then pulled a Lunchables snack package out of his pants. The woman said he offered to put it back, but she told him he would have to buy it. The woman told the deputy she wanted the pair warned to not return to the store or it would be considered trespassing. The deputy contacted the men and they said they were sorry. The deputy also contacted the mother of one of the men. The parties were lectured and released.
GESTURES GIVE WAY TO FIGHT
Two men got into a scuffle in the Goodyear Parking lot on the 30000 block of Bryant Drive at Evergreen Parkway in Evergreen at 1:50 p.m. April 23. The deputy contacted a 21-year-old driver who said while he was driving southbound on Evergreen Parkway another driver in an SUV "flipped him off." In response he made a hand gesture out the window as he passed the SUV. The SUV driver pulled up alongside him and told him to pull over. Both men drove into the Goodyear Parking lot. The SUV driver yelled at the driver of the black truck and walked up to him while he was still in his truck and slapped him. This elicited a response from the 21-year-old who got out of his truck and pushed the other man. The deputy talked to both men. Since neither wanted to pursue charges, the deputy told them to consider it a learning experience.
MAN BUSTED FOR SPEEDING, DUI ON 74
A deputy observed a dark-colored PT Cruiser traveling southbound on Evergreen Parkway near Bergen Parkway at a high rate of speed at 12:47 a.m. on April 27. He followed the vehicle and clocked it traveling 70 mph in a 30-mph zone. The driver was stopped near Upper Bear Creek Road and Colorado 74. The 49-year-old driver said he was in town for his aunt's funeral and he was "not from around here." He admitted to drinking one beer. He agreed to perform voluntary roadside maneuvers, but said he had back, leg and shoulder pains from Vietnam and was on medications. Several open containers of alcoholic beverages were found in the vehicle and the man was taken to Jefferson County Jail and given a summons for suspicion of DUI and speeding.
