MISSING IN ACTION: RED ANGUS COW
A 58-year-old Sedalia woman reported June 12 that she's missing one of her cows. According to a report, the woman told a deputy she lost a Red Angus cow sometime in the past two months at her ranch on the 8000 block of Titan Road in Sedalia. The estimated value of the cow was listed at $800, according to the report.
RENAISSANCE EMPLOYEE LOSES FLUTES
A 31-year-old Denver man said someone stole his flutes from the Colorado Renaissance Festival, 650 W. Perry Park Ave., in Larkspur June 10. The flutes were worth $100, according to the report.
GOOD THING IT WAS FAKE
A 27-year-old Gardner man avoided a drug possession charge Dec. 5 after it was determined that his marijuana was fake. The man was pulled over at 10:10 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 85 and Highlands Ranch Parkway because rocks on his trailer were not secured properly. The deputy smelled raw marijuana in the man's car and located an ounce of a green leafy substance in the man's vehicle. After testing the substance, the deputy stated it did not test positive for marijuana. The man asked the deputy if he was sure, stating that he smoked some last night and that it "blew his mind." He was cited for a traffic-related violation and was released.
BEER STOLEN FROM FRIDGE
A 40-year-old Highlands Ranch man reported that someone stole two six-packs of beer from his refrigerator Sept. 19. According to a report, the man stated that when he arrived home after work at 3:30 p.m., he noticed a screen was missing from one of the front windows of the house. He checked the house, which is located on the 200 block of Jupiter Drive, and didn't notice anything missing until he checked the refrigerator in his garage and noticed the missing beer. The loss was estimated at $20.
FOUNTAIN VANDALIZED
A large water fountain in Highlands Ranch had to be flushed out after someone put an entire bottle of Safeway dish soap in it. According to a report, the soap was placed in the fountain at Civic Green Park, 9370 Ridgeline Blvd., sometime between 9 p.m. July 21 and 6 a.m. July 22. A groundskeeper told deputies it took about 3,000 gallons to flush out the 17,000-gallon fountain.
MAN'S REPLY TO SUMMONS: "BUMMER"
A grocery store manager was issued a summons for unlawful acts after he allegedly sold beer to a minor May 25. According to a report, police conducted a sting operation at Safeway, 560 Castle Pines Parkway, in Castle Pines at about 8 p.m. The officer stated he followed an underage informant through line as he attempted to purchase beer. The store manager, a 22-year-old Monument man, allegedly only asked the youth for his Safeway card and not his identification card, according to the report. After the officer issued him a summons, the man allegedly replied "bummer."
FACE SPRAY PAINTED ON GARAGE DOOR
A 46-year-old Highlands Ranch woman reported that someone spray painted two eyes, a nose and a mouth on her garage door Sept. 1. The woman, who lives on the 9700 block of Queenscliff Drive, estimated the damage at $25.
MAN NOT SURE IF IT'S OK TO CARRY LOADED PISTOL
A 39-year-old Englewood man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Aug. 25 after he allegedly crashed his car in a neighborhood. According to a report, deputies were dispatched at 11:30 p.m. to the 9800 block of Motsenboker Road on a report of a crash in the area. They located a man pulled off to the side of the road attempting to fix a flat tire. The deputy stated he could smell alcohol on his breath. He allegedly failed a roadside test and was placed into handcuffs. As they were walking to the patrol car, the man stated, "There is a pistol in my truck, is that going to be OK?" A search of the car turned up a Ruger pistol with a loaded magazine. The man was also arrested on suspicion of prohibited use of a weapon.
DRUNKEN MAN FOUND IN CAR
A 47-year-old Denver man was arrested July 5 after he was allegedly found living in the backseat of his car in a parking lot. According to a report, a deputy was dispatched at 12:08 p.m. to a parking lot on the 6400 block of Business Center Drive in Highlands Ranch on a report of a man living out of his vehicle and urinating in the parking lot. The deputy found the car and saw the man sleeping in the backseat, surrounded by two 12-packs of Coors Light and several empty beer cans, according to a report. The deputy woke him up and a background check revealed he had a court order prohibiting him from drinking. He was arrested and taken to jail.
