Blotter: 13-year-old student caught with drugs

Castle Rock Police

STUDENT FOUND WITH MARIJUANA
A student at Castle Rock Middle School, 2575 Meadows Blvd., was issued a summons May 6 for possession of marijuana. The student, 13, was caught with .52 grams and was later released to his father.

HABITUAL TRAFFIC OFFENDER ARRESTED
A 29-year-old Lakewood man was arrested on suspicion of DUI at 2:18 a.m. May 8. The man was pulled over for weaving at the intersection of Front Street and U.S. 85. The man appeared intoxicated and failed a roadside sobriety test. A background check revealed the man is a habitual traffic offender with 15 active restraints on his record.

OKLAHOMA MAN PICKED UP ON WARRANT
A 46-year-old Purcell, Okla., man was arrested May 7 after police confirmed a warrant out of Oklahoma for his arrest. The man was contacted at 5:09 p.m. on the 3200 block of Brushwood Drive on a solicitation complaint. A background check of the man revealed the warrant out of Oklahoma for second-degree burglary. He was transported to the sheriff's office where he was held on a $21,000 cash-only bond.

WOMAN BUSTED FOR DUI
A 35-year-old Castle Rock woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI on April 28. The woman was pulled over at 1:58 a.m. near the intersection of Park Street and Wolfensberger Road for failing to use a turn signal. After the woman failed a roadside sobriety test and was about to be placed in handcuffs, she became uncooperative and asked, "Why are you doing this?" She also allegedly asked, "Can't you just cut me a break? I mean I really need one." The woman was arrested and booked at the police department.

DUI SUSPECT INDECISIVE
A 37-year-old Castle Rock woman who was arrested on suspicion of DUI on April 29 was unsure whether she wanted to perform a roadside sobriety test. The woman was pulled over at 11:29 p.m. near the intersection of Third and Gilbert streets for weaving. When asked if she wanted to perform a roadside test, the woman allegedly replied "yes, no, yes, no, yes, no." The woman finally decided not to take the test and agreed to have her license revoked for 12 months. A PBT came up with a result of .239 BrAc.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office

METH FOUND ON WOMAN
A 25-year-old Loveland woman was caught with methamphetamine May 6 as she was being booked into jail. The woman was turned in on a bond revocation at 8:10 p.m. at the Douglas County Detention Center, 4000 Justice Way, and a search of her purse turned up a small plastic bag containing a pink crystal substance. The substance tested positive for meth and the woman was booked on suspicion of introducing contraband.

WOMAN SUSPECTS STONE MASON IN THEFT
A 49-year-old Highlands Ranch woman believes a stone mason she fired stole nearly $3,000 worth of decorative stone from her house. The woman, who lives on the 6000 block of Trailhead Road, stated she hired a stone mason to lay the stone in her yard, but fired him because she felt he did a bad job. On May 3, she noticed the stone was missing and called the man to see if he took it. He denied taking the stone, but said "nice stone like that tends to grow legs." She believes the man took it, but has no proof. The mason denied stealing the stone.

GRILL STOLEN FROM PORCH
An outdoor barbecue grill was stolen from the back porch of a house on the 5600 block of Brahma Place in Parker sometime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 6. The homeowner stated the grill was worth approximately $1,000.

MARIJUANA PIPE FOUND ON SHOPLIFTER
An 18-year-old Highlands Ranch man was issued summonses for theft and possession of paraphernalia May 2 after he was caught stealing from a grocery store. The teen was detained at 3:17 p.m. by a security guard at King Soopers, 9551 S. University Blvd., after he was caught stealing two packs of cigarettes, a bag of peanuts and a soda. A search of the teen revealed a glass pipe, a pocketknife and some candy.

VACANT HOME BURGLARIZED
Nearly $5,000 worth of items were stolen from a house in Castle Rock that had been vacant for several weeks. A 62-year-old man stated his father owns the home on the 3300 block of Stone Canon Road but hadn't been there since Februarybecause he was placed in a hospice. The man stated he noticed the items were missing from the house May 4. Among the items missing: $4,000 worth of china, electronics, silverware, binoculars and an antique gun.

JEWERLY STOLEN FROM HOME
A resident on the 10700 block of Perry Park Road in Larkspur reported someone broke into her house between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. May 2 and stole several items from her home. Among the items stolen: $2,000 in jewelry; $200 in coins; two hunting knives and a door jam.
