MOTHER ASSAULTED BY SON
At about 11 p.m. May 9, police responded to a house in the Castle Wood Ranch subdivision on a report of an assault in progress. A woman called police from a closet, where she was hiding from her 14-year-old son. She said her son assaulted her and broke a mirror by kicking it. The mirror was valued at $1,200. The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and criminal mischief.
'GOOD EVENING, OCIFER'
An officer pulled over the driver of a black Infiniti coupe for weaving at about 2:15 a.m. May 8 near Front Street and Oakwood Drive. The driver, a 29-year-old Lakewood man, smelled of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. He reportedly said, "Good evening, ocifer -- I mean officer." He did not have a license. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, weaving and driving with a revoked license.

NEIGHBOR BEATS MAN OVER DISPUTE
At about 8 a.m. May 14, a deputy was dispatched to a residence on the 0-100 block of Hernn Lane in Castle Rock on a report of a physical assault between two neighbors. A 55-year-old man said he was physically assaulted by his 57-year-old neighbor after walking on a walkway made of rocks next to the 57-year-old's house. The 55-year-old said he lives behind the 57-year-old and he uses the walkway to cut over to his house. The 55-year-old said the 57-year-old confronted him about it, saying the walkway is his private property. The 57-year-old said, "This is going to end," and allegedly hit the 55-year-old in the head with a closed fist. The 55-year-old said the 57-year-old repeatedly hit him for what felt like 30 seconds. He said the 57-year-old then grabbed and tripped him, causing him to fall into the rocks. The 55-year-old had multiple cuts and scratches on his head, face and arms. It was determined the walkway is public property, and the 57-year-old was issued a summons for third-degree assault.
MAN'S TRUCK VANDALIZED
At about 7 a.m. May 14, a 33-year-old Englewood man reported someone had vandalized his vehicle. He said he parked his Chevy Tahoe at his business in Littleton at about 7 a.m. May 12. When he returned to the truck at 3:30 p.m., he noticed large scratches on the passenger side and back end. Damage was estimated at $1,500. The man said he does not know who might have caused the damage.
SOCIAL SECURITY CARD MISSING
A deputy responded May 9 to a house on the 9900 block of Aftonwood Street in Highlands Ranch on a report of a possibly stolen Social Security card. A 22-year-old Highlands Ranch man said he was at Pei Wei, 9352 S. Colorado Blvd., at about 11:30 a.m. When he returned to his home at about 3 p.m., he noticed his wallet was missing. He called the restaurant and they said they found his wallet. After he retrieved his wallet, he noticed his Social Security card was missing. There are no suspects at this time.
WOMAN REPORTS GRILL STOLEN
A deputy responded May 13 to a home on the 9200 block of South Crestmore Way in unincorporated Douglas County on a report of a theft. A 50-year-old woman said she went in her back yard to use her grill at about 6 p.m. and discovered it missing. She said the last time she used it was on Mother's Day. The loss is estimated at $200. She said she does not know who may have stolen it.
DRIVER MIXES VALIUM WITH ALCOHOL
At about 5 p.m. May 12, a deputy was dispatched to the area of County Line Road and University Boulevard on a report of a drunken subject. A 38-year-old man was apparently passed out in the driver's seat of a pick up truck. After the deputy woke him up, he noticed his eyes were bloodshot and watery and he smelled strongly of alcohol. The man said he was driving home to Denver from a job interview in Colorado Springs, when he felt he could no longer drive due to the effects of three Valium pills he ingested that morning. On an impairment scale from 1 to 10, the man said he was an "8." He had called his wife several times to come pick him up, but it was discovered he was the subject of a protection order prohibiting him from calling her. He failed a roadside sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, careless driving and violating a protection order.
CAR STEREO, SUNGLASSES STOLEN
At about 8 a.m. May 12, deputies responded to an apartment complex on the 3400 block of County Line Road in Highlands Ranch on a report of a vehicle trespass. A 24-year-old Highlands Ranch man said someone broke his passenger's side window of his car and stole the stereo and a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses. The stolen items were valued at $400. There are no suspects.
MAILBOX SHOT UP
At about noon May 12, a deputy responded to a residence on the 1800 block of Promontory Drive in Castle Rock on a report of criminal mischief. A 59-year-old woman said someone shot her mailbox. She said she did not recall hearing any gunshots. The hole appeared to be in the .40- to .45-caliber range. There are no suspects.
