Castle Rock Police: Black Bear, cubs spotted


BLACK BEAR, CUBS SPOTTED
At approximately 7:15 p.m. June 29, an officer was dispatched to the 2000 block of Oak Vista Court on a report of an adult black bear and two cubs. When the officer arrived, he reported a crowd had gathered to watch the bears. Colorado Division of Wildlife was dispatched and more officers arrived to disperse the crowd and control traffic. The matter was turned over to Colorado Division of Wildlife. No injuries or property damage was reported.

FIREWORKS STAND ROBBED
At 1:21 a.m. June 29, an officer responded to a report of a theft at a fireworks tent on the 800 block of New Memphis Court. The owner of the stand told officer he was sleeping in the tent for security purposes when he heard a noise and found a man leaving the tent with fireworks. The owner reported the man dropped the fireworks and got into an unknown vehicle. Nothing was opened or damaged.

PEEPING TOM REPORTED
At approximately 12:30 a.m. June 28, officers responded to a report of a man looking into a window at a woman changing clothes on the 600 block of South Street. Officers spoke to the woman's husband who said he had been outside smoking a cigarette when he saw a man lying on the ground by a dumpster looking into their bedroom window. The husband told officers he confronted the man, who walked away, and went in to ask his wife if she had been changing her clothes. Officers located the suspect, but lost him running south on the railroad tracks.

PIPE LOOKS SUSPICIOUS
At 10:30 a.m. June 28, an officer was dispatched to the area of Plum Creek Parkway on a report of a suspicious incident. Upon arrival, the officer reported locating a pipe that appeared to resemble a pipe bomb. All traffic was shut down until the pipe was further examined. A lieutenant with the Douglas County Bomb Disposal Unit verified the pipe was not a bomb, but took it into possession for more examination. Plum Creek Parkway later was reopened to traffic.
