Castle Rock Police: BB gun fractures car window

SUSPICIOUS CAR AND DAMAGED PROPERTY
At 8:16 p.m. July 12, officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the 2100 block of Sierra Verde Court. This particular area also has two unoccupied houses, which are both in a secluded area. While on scene, officers noticed a broken light fixture on the rock-wall finish of one of the unoccupied homes. Officers confronted the suspicious vehicle and spoke with its driver, a 51-year-old man, who told officers he and a friend were in the area looking at the unoccupied homes. He told officers he did not break the light fixture and noticed it when he drove by the home. Officers released the man. The damage to the home looked like fowl play, but officers only left a business card at the residence for its owners.

FUTURE HOME DEVELOPMENT VANDALIZED
At 6:52 a.m. July 11, officers were dispatched to a development site on the 2900 block of Mashie Circle on a report of criminal mischief. A 40-year-old employee of Franken Excavating told officers someone damaged three windows to a 2005 John Deere front loader between 5 p.m. July 10 and 6:40 a.m. July 11. Someone broke out two side windows and shot out the front windshield of the front loader 17 times with what appeared to be a BB gun. The BB pellets did not penetrate the front loader's windshield and officers couldn't locate any pellet casings inside the front loader. Total damage is estimated to be $800.

BB GUN FRACTURES CAR WINDOW
At 8:25 a.m. July 11, officers were patrolling the Metzler Ranch neighborhood when they observed a maroon-colored Oldsmobile with a recently broken rear driver's side window parked in front of a home on the 4000 block of Storm Cloud Way. Officers contacted the car's owner, a 29-year-old man, who told officers he was not aware of the damage. He believes it occurred sometime during the night and that the window was damaged by a BB gun. The window was completely shattered and he estimates it will cost $350 to repair. At least two other vehicles in the same neighborhood also appeared to have been shot at with a BB gun. No one in the neighborhood heard or saw anything.
