Work began this week to replace the sewer main that carries wastewater from the Founders Village and Castlewood Ranch developments.
The project, which is expected to be substantially complete within nine months, should have minimal impact on traffic in the area.
Holes will be bored to allow the two-mile main to cross under three roads - Enderud Boulevard, Colorado Highway 86 and Founders Parkway.
The work at Founders Parkway will be completed first. The project then will move east into Castle Oaks and Founders Village, where it will connect to the Mitchell Creek Lift Station. Work also will be done in the Black Pine area toward the end of the project.
The new line replaces a 20-year-old line that carries wastewater from the Mitchell Creek Lift Station to a gravity sewer in Escavera. It will handle the wastewater generated by Founders Village and Castlewood Ranch as well as flows from the Ray Waterman Regional Water Treatment Plant.
The project, which was identified in the 2003 Wastewater and Reclaimed Water Master Plan and is in the Town's five-year capital improvement plan, will cost $1.73 million. Castle Rock's T. Lowell Construction is performing the work.
Those with questions on the project can contact Utilities Project Manager Jeanne Stevens, 720-733-6033 or jstevens@CRgov.com.
After-hours comments regarding the work should be directed to the Utilities Department, 720-733-6000. Emergencies should be reported to Police Dispatch, 303-663-6100.
