Rock Your Dollar: shop Castle Rock, earn rewards

Go ahead and buy that 'fridge or even that designer bag. Or, let the little things add up - meals out, clothing and early holiday gifts.

When you shop in Castle Rock between Sept. 1 and 30, keep your receipts. Once you've spent $500 on qualifying taxable items, you'll get $50 in Castle Rock Cash to spend at Town businesses. When you spend $1,000, you get $100 in rewards.

"We expect the program to motivate spending that might not otherwise have happened, and that will energize our local economy," said Mayor Randy Reed.

Rock Your Dollar is open to residents and visitors alike. Anyone 18 years or older with a government-issued ID qualifies for participation.

Those whose qualifying purchases add up to $500 simply can bring their receipts to Town Hall between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. business days or to the Courtyard at Castle Rock, 333 Perry St., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and noon-5 p.m. Sundays during September to receive their Castle Rock Cash. The $50 reward will be given in $10 increments.

The Town will distribute Castle Rock Cash until Sept. 30 or until a cap of $100,000 is reached. Castle Rock Cash must be redeemed no later than Oct. 31. The program is financed by unobligated General Fund reserves.

While qualifying purchases do not include items such as groceries, alcohol or tobacco, Castle Rock Cash may be spent on any product or service from participating businesses. Volunteers currently are in the process of visiting Town businesses to explain the program and secure their participation.

A list of participating vendors will be posted to the Rock Your Dollar page at CRgov.com, which can be accessed via a link on the right side of the homepage.

The program provides a good deal for consumers but also benefits Town services. Increasing sales tax revenue improves the Town's bottom line, better positioning the Town to deliver the services that provide our small-town lifestyle and keep our community safe.

But the program is about more than money. Beyond bolstering the local economy, Rock Your Dollar also is meant to foster a sense of goodwill in the community.

Several local businesses are providing sponsorship that will help make the program a success. Thanks to Platinum Sponsor Patriot Enterprises Inc., which is being joined by the Courtyard at Castle Rock, Rockyard American Grill and Brewing Co., the Intermountain Rural Electric Association, Dazbog Coffee and Douglas Lumber in sponsoring Rock Your Dollar.

"Patriot Enterprises is proud to be the Platinum Sponsor for the Town's Rock Your Dollar Campaign," said Jim Mundle, Patriot's vice president and chief operating officer. "In these challenging economic times, it is wonderful to live in a community that gives back to its residents and local businesses.

"We are happy to do our part in making this program a big success."
