Blotter: Man finds stolen rims on another car

MAN FINDS STOLEN RIMS
A 30-year-old Castle Rock man was arrested on suspicion of theft April 13 after police found stolen tires on his car. At 8:24 p.m., police were dispatched a parking lot on the 800 block of North Wilcox Street on a report of recovered stolen property. Police met with a man who stated his custom rims and tires had been stolen earlier that day and he later found them on another car. The owner of the vehicle with the stolen rims stated he purchased the rims at a flea market. He was arrested and later released.

HOMEMADE BOMB SET OFF
A juvenile boy was taken into custody April 19 for possession of an explosive device and reckless endangerment for allegedly setting off a homemade bomb. Police were dispatched at 1 p.m. to the 400 block of Heritage Avenue on a report of an explosion in the area. After an investigation, police located the juvenile near Founders Park on Enderud Boulevard. The boy allegedly admitted to making and setting off the bomb, which was made out of gunpowder and jet fuel. He was taken into custody and later released to his parents.

MAN AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL
A 21-year-old construction worker was airlifted to a hospital April 21 after falling one floor at a home under construction. Officers were dispatched at 7:21 p.m. to the 2000 block of Avery Way on a report of an unconscious person. The construction worker fell from the second floor to the first floor and sustained a head injury. He was taken to Sky Ridge Medical Center where he was last listed in stable condition.

MAN ASKS TO GO TO JAIL
A 33-year-old Castle Rock man was arrested April 19 on suspicion of a slew of charges, including DUI and driving with a suspended license. The man was pulled over at 9:38 p.m. near Perry and Fifth streets because his taillight was out. When the officer asked him for his driver's license, registration and insurance card, the man replied, "I don't have any of it. Just take me to jail." The man, who also failed a sobriety test, eventually got his wish - he was transported to the Castle Rock police department.

TEENS ACCUSED OF SETTING OFF BOMBS
Seven juveniles, ages 14 to 15, are facing felony charges after they allegedly set off several acid bombs in Highlands Ranch. On April 25 at around 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to the Spring Gulch Park greenbelt area behind the 1900 block of Crystal Peak on a report of juveniles setting off pipe bombs. When deputies arrived on scene, they located several juveniles who had been setting off acid bombs. The juveniles showed deputies the location where they discovered three devices, one that had not gone off but was leaking. The bomb and hazmat team were called to clean up the leak, according to the sheriff's office.

EMPLOYEE CITED FOR THEFT
A 56-year-old Aurora woman was issued a summons for theft April 21 after she was caught stealing items from the break room. Deputies were dispatched at 11 a.m. to Developmental Pathways, 325 Inverness Drive in Englewood, on a report of an employee who had been detained for stealing. The woman allegedly was caught on videotape stealing items from the break room, including bottles of liquid hand soap, tea bags, coffee creamer and candy bars. The estimated loss was $18. The report didn't say whether the woman was fired.

LAPTOP STOLEN IN BREAK-IN
A 51-year-old Parker man reported someone stole a laptop, cell phone charger and other items from his car sometime between April 18 and 21 while it was parked on the 10100 block of Quarry Hill Place. The estimated loss was $2,500.

WATER METER, METAL SCRAPS STOLEN
A water meter was stolen from an Xcel truck sometime between April 18 and 21. A report stated someone ripped down a metal chain link fence to a construction site at the intersection of Danning and Cranston circles and stole the meter. The thief also stole two Xcel hard hats, an Xcel coat and metal scraps. The damage was estimated at $4,275.

LIGHT POLES DESTROYED
Twelve light poles were torn and destroyed sometime between 2:30 and 4:35 a.m. from an RTD park-n-Ride station at 9200 S. Ridgeline Blvd. The damage was estimated at $9,600.
