Blotter: Employee busted for stealing tea bag

Castle Rock Police

WOMAN RUNS RED LIGHT, RECEIVES DUI
A 23-year-old Castle Rock woman was arrested Jan. 8 for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. An officer observed the woman run a red light at at approximately 11:54 p.m. at the intersection of Fifth and Perry streets. The woman, who stated she had only two drinks that night, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after she failed roadside maneuvers.

MAN STEALS TEA BAG, ISSUED SUMMONS
A 20-year-old Castle Rock man was issued a summons for shoplifting Jan. 10 for allegedly stealing a tea bag from a Starbucks located inside King Soopers, 750 N. Ridge Road, in Castle Rock. A King Soopers security guard told police he saw the man, a King Soopers employee, take a tea bag from a Starbucks kiosk without paying. The employee told police he didn't think it would be a big deal and that nobody would miss it.

JOGGER THREATENED WITH GUN
A Castle Rock man said he was threatened at gunpoint while he was out on a jog Jan. 9. The man told police he was jogging at approximately 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mikelson and Enderud boulevards when he was threatened by several men in a red Ford Probe. One of the occupants of the car allegedly called the man a "homo" and flashed a gun at him. Police searched the area for the car, but couldn't find the suspects.

CASTLE ROCK MAN BUSTED FOR SHOPLIFTING
A 54-year-old Castle Rock man was issued a summons for shoplifting Jan. 9 after he attempted to steal various items from Safeway, 880 S. Perry St. A security guard at the store told police he saw the man attempt to walk out of the store with various merchandise, including ice cream, chips and yogurt, without paying. The total amount of the merchandise equaled $31.57, according to the report.

PUEBLO MEN ARRESTED
Two Pueblo men were arrested Jan. 15 for felony drug possession charges, as well as outstanding warrants. At 4:11 a.m., police pulled over a car at Interstate 25 and mile marker 182 for missing taillights. A background check revealed both men, ages 23 and 35, had active traffic-related warrants out for their arrest. A search of the car also revealed several bags that contained suspected methamphetamine. Both men were arrested and taken to the Douglas County Detention Center, according to a report.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A 22-year-old Westminster man was arrested for disorderly conduct Jan. 13 for allegedly making too much noise late at night. At approximately 3:40 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 11900 block of Sawnsea Drive in Parker on a report of a disturbance in the area. A resident on the block stated someone was pounding on something and making noise. The deputy made contact with a man sitting in the driver's seat of his car with the engine off. The deputy stated the man had bloodshot eyes, vomit on his leg and what appeared to be a puddle of urine next to his vehicle. The man was extremely disoriented and told the deputy he thought he was in Denver.

MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF DRUGS
A 20-year-old Centennial man was arrested for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia Jan. 16 after he was pulled over for running a stop sign. The man was pulled over at approximately 10:28 p.m. near the intersection of Omaha Avenue and Willow Park Avenue. He allowed a deputy to search his car, which turned up a bag of marijuana and a pipe. He was placed under arrest and transported to jail.

SHOPLIFTER ISSUED SUMMONS
A 34-year-old Highlands Ranch man was issued a summons Jan. 15 after he attempted to steal more than $500 worth of items from Target, 1950 E. County Line Road, in Highlands Ranch. A security guard at the store stated he watched the man throw some clothes over several MP3 players and DVDs in his cart and attempted to walk out without paying. When confronted about the items, the man allegedly stated, "I must have forgotten to pay for these items."

DOCTOR'S EXPENSIVE SCOPE STOLEN
A 62-year-old physician said someone stole a $4,500 scope from his car while it was parked at Big 5, 8675 S. Quebec St., sometime between 7:32 and 10:30 p.m. There are no leads in the case, according to a report.
