On Tuesday Night at 7 pm Castle Rock voters will get a chance to participate in the first step in selecting delegates for President, Senator, Congressman, State House, etc. For Republicans there are meeting sites that do not match up with polling places. The caucus locations for Castle Rock are:
Douglas County High School
Castle View High School
Sedalia Elementary School
Timber Trail Elementary School
Rock Ridge Elementary School
Usually, your caucus location is the one closest to your home. There are a few exceptions and so the best bet is to check with the GOP Web site at
www.dcgop.org. For example, my house, in the extreme western end of the Meadows, meets at Sedalia Elementary School, in Sedalia, CO. Don't know why this is so, but it is.
For those McCainiacs out there, I have prepared some talking points in case you get a chance to tell your caucus why you support John McCain.
Talking points for caucuses
1. Since 1968 the winner of the New Hampshire and South Carolina has been the GOP nominee. John McCain is that winner.
2. The final Bush Administration budget has been forwarded to the Congress this week. It has a deficit of $400 billion. John McCain has been a tireless fighter for reduced federal spending and has never offered or approved an earmark. Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has gotten over $500 million in earmarks passed since becoming a senator. John McCain knows that you must reduce spending if you want to reduce taxes.
3. After Caucus night, the GOP can coalesce around a candidate to take on the Democrats or continue fighting and attacking one another. This fight and attacks among the GOP is hindering the real fight to keep the White House from those who are opposed to GOP values. It is time to coalesce around our candidate, John McCain.
4. Both of the Democratic candidates have pledge to: (a) Get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan
no matter what the cost (b) Initiate a national health care system
no matter what the cost (c) roll back the Bush tax cuts
no matter what the cost. If the GOP continues infighting, the Democrats will take the White House in November.
5. It is going to be a tough time beating the Dems in November. There is a lot of Bush fatigue and it shows in the polling.
John McCain is known and trusted by most Americans, whether Left, Right or Center. He is the best shot at keeping the White House.
For those Romney supporters, American Idol has a great show on Fox at the same time as the caucuses. Don't miss it! (Just kidding. All are welcome!)
