Meet your candidate: Max Brooks
Contributed by: Max Brooks on 3/13/2008

Max Brooks is a candidate for Castle Rock Town Council in District 7. YourHub.com asked him to respond to a questionnaire about his interests and local issues.

My name: Max Brooks

Age: 37

My family: Married for 7 years and have 3 sons (age 6, 4, and 2)

Education: Attended University of Alabama and Bellarmine University

What I do: Manager for Clear Channel Radio (103.5 "The Fox" KRFX-FM)

My favorite place in town to hang out: Castle Café and B&B Café.

What I like most about living here: The open space, small town atmosphere, low crime rate, terrific parks and trails systems, beautiful views, and the fact Castle Rock is a wonderful place to raise a family.

My interests and hobbies: Golfing, coaching baseball, snowmobiling and spending time with my family

My favorite thing to cook: Belgian waffles. Each Sunday, my mother, my sister and her kids all come over for a big brunch.

People who inspired me (and how): My wife, Liana, inspires me constantly with her ability to juggle schedules, keep our children involved in outdoor and educational activities, and still have time to help me in my campaign for Town Council District 7.

How I have contributed to the community: Volunteer coach for DC Dolphins youth baseball and, by gaining a seat on Town Council, I will contribute to the community by being responsive to the needs and concerns of residents.

The biggest issues facing Castle Rock now: Growth and the many issues that go along with it: Water, police and fire response, maintaining open space and our small town atmosphere. Growth, no matter what type or at what level, should not be permitted to compromise or destroy the very reasons so many families made their home in Castle Rock. Open space, low crime rates, friendly and family oriented communities are all attributes Castle Rock offers residents. In the end, however, growth is inevitable and managed growth should be embraced.

Why I am running: Because of the growth issues, now is a crucial time in the long term development of Castle Rock and it is a very exciting time to be involved with the direction of the Town. Additionally, a seat on Town Council is a way to serve my community and I feel I can effectively represent the opinions, needs and concerns of District 7 residents at each Town Council meeting.
