'Be There' Young Jewish Leadership Conference

The Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado's Young Adult Department (YAD) will host its 3rd annual "Be There" Young Jewish Leadership Conference on Wednesday, May 28, from 5:30-9:00pm, at the Westin Tabor Center in Denver.

Co-chaired by Adam Agron and Daniel Feiner, "Be There" is a conference featuring a variety of breakout sessions that touch on a multitude of facets affecting young Jewish adults in today's world. The evening will feature a variety of speakers who are prominent leaders in the community. This year's keynote speaker is Rabbi Irwin Kula, president of the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership.

"This conference is the perfect opportunity for young Jewish professionals to engage in topics that speak to our generation," said Agron. "Whether it's learning about what motivates us to give philanthropically, how to navigate an inter-faith relationship in today's world, how to balance a busy and demanding professional, civic and personal life, or how to effectively advocate for Israel, 'Be There' is an opportunity for us to get together and exchange ideas. It's a valuable experience that is not to be missed."

Rabbi Irwin Kula is an eighth generation Rabbi, nationally known speaker and teacher. He is a frequent guest on "The Today Show" and "Oprah", was ranked No. 8 in Newsweek's "Top 50 Rabbis in America". He is the co-host of the popular weekly radio show, "Hirschfeld and Kula". In 2003, Kula hosted the first-ever 13-part National Public TV series entitled "Simple Wisdom with Rabbi Irwin Kula", using Jewish wisdom to explore the central issues of life.

"Rabbi Irwin Kula embodies Judaism in the 21st century. A voice respected by orthodox and reform alike, the Rabbi understands where some find solace in tradition, others need evolution. He is a leader in progressive Jewish thought and a mentor to young and old, but more than that he is a genuinely fun and engaging individual. An evening with the Rabbi is a rare treat, and I would encourage everyone to take full advantage of this special opportunity," said Feiner.

"Be There" was created as part of a comprehensive effort by Federation to reach out to and engage the next generation of Jewish leaders in the community. It is sponsored by the Ramo Family Trust. For more information call Juliet Glaser at 303.316.6466 or visit www.jewishcolorado.org/yad.

For over 60 years, the Federation has been building and sustaining Jewish life across Colorado, in Israel, and around the world. Each year the Federation mobilizes the Jewish community to raise the crucial funds required to provide food, refuge, comfort, education, and emergency assistance to millions of people in-need. Last year, the Federation raised more than $14.4 million that benefited dozens of charitable agencies, both locally and worldwide.
