Artists introduce miniature art to Castle Rock
Contributed by: Art Explorers on 6/7/2005

The Art of Miniature painting began in the 7th Century, reached its Golden Era in the 13th Century, faded in the 19th Century when photography came along, and re-emerged in the 20th Century.

As of now, there are prestigious Societies of Miniature Art around the world.   A Miniature painting can be rendered in any medium, but the scale required creates the challenge for the artist.  Painting in a space no larger than 5" X 5" or smaller, every detail must be miniaturized to 1/6th of the original subject and result in a painting that you, the viewer, experiences as a treasure. Paintings may be framed out to as much as a 12" X 12" in a museum style frame, but the beauty of each creation depends on the skill and discipline of the artist.

A Miniature usually takes as long or longer to produce as a large piece of art.  The beauty of each creation depends on the skill and discipline of the artist.   A fine miniature can be magnified many times and it will still present itself as well as a fine work of art of greater size.  Miniatures are special gifts because of their unique size and qualities.

On June 17, from 5:30 – 8:30 PM, area artists will present their Miniature creations in an Exhibit and Open House at the Art Explorers Gallery in the Castle Rock Outlet Mall located in Suite 530.  The public is invited to enjoy this art form and meet the artists.  Call 303-663-9972 for details.
