The preliminary design for the road that will connect Ridge Road in eastern Castle Rock to Plum Creek Parkway/Miller Boulevard on the Town's southern end is ready to be revealed.
Residents can check out the plan during an upcoming open house. Comments collected at the event will be incorporated into the road's final design.
The Southeast Arterial Connection, as the road currently is called, is part of the Town's three-pronged Transportation Action plan, or TAP - which voters approved a $30 million bond issue to fund in April 2005.
The Southeast Arterial Connection project also includes improvements to Ridge Road, which are ongoing. Paving along Ridge Road's northern end will continue when weather permits.
Once that work has been completed, traffic will be shifted to the new pavement, and work will begin on the roundabout at Ridge Road and Enderud Boulevard. The roundabout will be completed in March or April.
Two-way traffic will be maintained throughout the majority of the construction on Ridge Road, but there will be instances when the closure of one lane will be required.
A second roundabout is planned where Ridge Road and the connector road will meet. Construction of the connector road is expected to begin in late July or August and be completed in August 2009.
The open house to reveal the connector road's preliminary design will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 10 at Faith Lutheran Church, 303 Ridge Road.
The other two prongs of the Transportation Action Plan are the Southwest Arterial Connection and the North Meadows Extension.
