Two drivers died in separate car accidents in Douglas County over the weekend, according to the sheriff's office.
The first occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m. Friday Feb. 29 near the intersection of Palmer Divide Avenue and Indi Drive. Witnesses told investigators a sedan heading west on Palmer Divide Avenue was traveling at a high rate of speed and driving erratically before it struck another vehicle heading east.
The driver of the sedan, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to investigators.
The second wreck occurred at 8:25 a.m. Sunday March 2 and is believed to be weather-related. Investigators say the driver of the vehicle involved was heading west on Bayou Gulch Road, lost control and slid off the left hand side of the roadway in a slight turn near the intersection of Hurlingham Circle.
The driver, who also has not been identified, was the only occupant in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
