Diggin' out continues with more on the ground
Contributed by: Daniel Smith, YourHub.com on 1/4/2007

The great dig-out continues in Castle Rock and surrounding areas.

With snow accumulationsas deep as four feet of snow in some areas, local government, businesses and citizens continue to wield shovels, snowblowers, pickups with snowblades and heavy-duty equipment like snowplows and graders to open streets, sidewalks, alleys and driveways.

The Town of Castle Rock has requested businesses and citizens provide some relief for school children and pedestrians by clearing sidewalks and crosswalks in school zones and busy walkways.

YourHub.com found town Parks and Recreation Department employee Brian Roundy plowing - in some cases nearly burrowing - through heavy drifts along Meadows Boulevard near SpringBriar Drive Jan. 4, alone with the task of clearing huge lengths of sidewalk buried by mother nature and the plows that had churned up the snow from the streets.

Brian said is some cases, the drifts were over the height of his little Bobcat, which gratefully, has an enclosed cab for him to sit in. Roundy admitted there was plenty of work left to do - and at 1:30 p.m., said he'd been at it since 6:30 a.m.
