Castle Rock crews battle more snow, wind
Contributed by: Chad Reiling on 1/5/2007

Town of Castle Rock Public Works crews once again are battling snow and blowing snow on the Town's roadways, this time as a result of a winter storm expected to leave 4 to 8 inches more of the white stuff.

The third snowstorm in thee weeks has crews operating nine pieces of snow-plowing and sanding equipment working alongside 12 pieces of contracted equipment on Castle Rock's arterial and main collector routes, clearing snow and laying down a sand/salt mixture to give motorists traction on the slick streets. Crews are also focusing efforts in some particularly snowy areas west of the Meadows.

The Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department reports a morning not out of the ordinary. Since last night, crews have responded to two calls - a jackknifed semi-tractor trailer truck and a spinout on an Interstate 25 onramp. Fire equipment is outfitted with tire chains and staffing levels are normal. Chief Morales once again asks residents to please shovel snow off any fire hydrant located on their property.
