Head on down and hike with your hound at the first annual Dumb Friends League Wag n’ Trail – a 1.6-mile walk for you and your dog at the Glendale Farm Open Space (I-25 and Surrey Ridge, Exit 190) on Saturday, September 17. No registration fee is required but participants are encouraged to collect pledges to help thousands of homeless animals at the Dumb Friends League Buddy Centerin Castle Rock.
“The Wag n’ Trail is a new fund-raising event to increase awareness and support for the
Buddy Center,” says Robert Rohde, Dumb Friends League president. “Since the Buddy Center opened its doors three-and-a-half years ago, we’ve helped nearly 13,000 homeless pets. In addition to placing animals in new homes, we offer lost and found services, dog training classes and animal cruelty investigations to help pets and people in the Douglas County community.”
Bring your pooch to the Wag n’ Trail anytime between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and hike the trail at your own pace. If you raise at least $75 in pledges, you’ll receive a Wag n’ Trail long-sleeved T-shirt, ice cream for you and your dog and a photo at the top of the trail. Following the hike, you can enjoy dog contests and demonstrations, refreshments and buy pet-related merchandise. And if your dog has energy left after the hike, he can play with other dogs in the 5-acre off-leash park near the trailhead.
