Get that Lovin' Feline at Kitty Karnvial!
Contributed by: Dumb Friends League on 6/10/2005

If you’re thinking of adopting a cat or kitten don’t miss Kitty Karnival at the Dumb Friends League Buddy Center on Saturday, June 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  More than 50 cats and kittens will be available for adoption.

“Cats tend to breed during the warmer months,” says Bob Rohde, Dumb Friends League president. “As a result many shelters across the country receive thousands of adult cats and kittens throughout summer. We’re hoping that Kitty Karnival will generate awareness of the cat overpopulation problem in our community, and if the timing is right, perhaps people will consider adopting a new furry friend.”

Kitty Karnival will also feature several fun activities for kids throughout the day including face painting, crafts and a catnip toss. You may also enjoy a piece of “litter box cake,” learn about cat behavior and health issues and shop for cat-related merchandise in the League’s “Sit, Stay, Shop.”

The adoption fee for kittens up to 6 months old is $75, cats between 6 months and 6 years old are $55, and cats over the age of 6 years are $35 each. During Kitty Karnival, two cats over six months old may be adopted for one adoption fee ($55). The adoption fee includes the spay/neuter surgery, preliminary vaccinations, a safety collar and I.D. tag, a microchip identification implant and a free veterinary exam from a participating member of the Denver Area Veterinary Medical Society.

If you’re not able to adopt at this time but would like to help the cats and kittens in the League’s care, consider donating needed supplies such as cat toys, KMR milk replacement formula, towels, canned goat’s milk, paper grocery bags and cat beds. Please visit www.ddfl.org for a complete list of needed items.
