While driving the back roads out of Douglas County heading to my son's wrestling tournament in Simla yesterday morning I came across this interesting weather. The light shining through the blowing snow had created a rainbow.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky.
No, that is not a lens refraction from my camera lens, this is actually how it appeared! I jumped out of the truck just long enough to snap these pictures. Brrr! Must have been around 0F. They were taken near our place, on Lorraine Rd. in southern Douglas County.
Anybody know the proper name for this? Snow fairy? Snow bow? Pretty neat to see!

Interesting. I have never seen anything like it. The best part about a rainbow turned on its end is the pot of gold surely dumped out somewhere. Let us know if you stumble across it, Mick!

After posting this, Josh, one of the guys plowing for us, saw the same thing Sunday up in Castle Pines at The Cliffs where the wind blows hard. Maybe not so rare is I thought. I like snowbow, too.
