Volunteers needed to help "suit" Denver
Contributed by: Kathy Bacon on 10/15/2006

We need your time, enthusiasm and expertise! Dress for Success Denver is a volunteer-driven organization and depends on the support of the community to deliver our programs and services to disadvantaged women. Without volunteers, we simply would not be able to fulfill our mission. We are starting new in Denver, and are in need of a Volunteer Coordinator.

Become a Dress for Success Denver volunteer and help women on the road to self-sufficiency. There are many ways that volunteers can assist Dress for Successat the local level here in the Denver community.

Personal Shopper
Volunteers can work one-on-one with a Dress for Success Denver client to help her select her professional attire and to provide support and encouragement as she prepares for her interviews. Once a woman becomes employed, she returns to Dress for Success for additional clothing to help her build a working wardrobe. Volunteers assist with this second visit as well, ensuring that women choose items that can be mixed and matched to create several outfits appropriate for the workplace. Personal shopping is an enjoyable and rewarding way to boost women's confidence and make a direct impact on our clients' lives.

Special Events & Fundraising
Special events are a vital part of Dress for Success Denver's fundraising efforts, and volunteers are often needed to assist in a variety of ways. Whether sitting on the event committees, helping with set-up and logistics or stuffing invitations or gift bags, volunteers play an important role in Dress for Success events. In addition to working on Dress for Success fundraisers, individuals also are encouraged to host their own. We are always in need of funding and encourage volunteers to get involved and help on all levels.

Administrative Work
As a volunteer-driven organization with limited resources, Dress for Success Denver is often in need of administrative help with tasks such as answering phones, serving as a receptionist, updating databases, photocopying and other similar duties. If you have office skills and would like to offer substantial assistance to Dress for Success Denver, we hope you will consider becoming an administrative volunteer for a few hours a week.

Boutique Maintenance
Organizing the apparel that Dress for Success Denver receives and stores is an enormous and ongoing task. We always need volunteers who can help sort donations, change inventory, organize the racks and make sure that the boutique is clean and orderly.
