My Nameless Friends
Contributed by: Aaron Haase on 7/6/2007

Even though I can't give you the names, ages, or even gender of my 11 best friends that deserve to watch aRockies game from a suite in Coors Field, I can produce a never ending list of why my "best friends," only known to me now as my brothers and sisters in arms, deserve to be in that suite.

I am a Captain in the USAF who would invite troops and airmen recently returned from serving our country in the desert. Some come back with injuries some come back having missed their child's 1st birthday or 1st words, but they all deserve to be recognized and given a hero's welcome for their sacrifices. I can't think of anything more American than a baseball game (and maybe some apple pie) to welcome them home and give at least a handful of them the recognition and hero's welcome they all deserve. Further, I believe a baseball game reminds us all of what's so great about our country and will remind these soldiers and airmen that their sacrifices mattered and we all appreciate their contributions and service.

Regardless of whether or not I am in a suite with 11 of my "best friends" for a Rockies game, I hope this story inspires people to thank the Soldiers, Airmen, Seaman, and Marines who so honorably serve this great country whether stationed stateside or deployed overseas.
