PRESS RELEASE
Local Author Has Book Which May Become Movie
Dr. Ben Benoit from Castle Rock wrote and published in 2002 an historical fiction called "Surviving Damnation." It's the true story of the 18
th century Acadians who inhabited the North-East of the New World which is now Nova Scotia. The land of their settlements changed hands in 1713 from France to England. The English insisted that these French-speaking inhabitants take allegiance to the Crown of England which they refused. As a result, the Acadians were damned to a disastrous deportation by the English in 1755. Many of today's Cajuns in Louisiana are direct descendants of the Acadians, and so is the author Benoit, a tenth generation Acadian.
Dr. Benoit was notified that the rights to his book are of interest to a group from Hollywood for the production of a feature film. The director who is considered to make the movie is none other than Clint Eastwood who recently produced "Flag of Our Fathers." "Surviving Damnation" (or perhaps under a different title) may be coming to a theatre near you.
Two months ago Benoit published "Battle At The Pass," based on the true Civil War event that took place in Colorado's back yard. The conflict occurred in 1862 over the confiscation of Colorado's gold mines by the Confederates. The First Regiment of Colorado Volunteers turned them away.
Both books can be reviewed and are available at Benoitbooks.com.
