I'll admit, the thought of Hot Wings is an appealing one to me ... and having spent a fair amount of time sampling the wings around the Denver metro, it was a nice surprise to see the new Wingin' It restaurant show up near the movie theatre on Limelight, in The Meadows.
I'm not so sure this is a good location because it's kind of hidden and unless you know it's there, you probably wouldn't go there.
So I talked my wife into going there to satisfy my own selfish needs for a fairly quick meal ... and that hot taste on my lips. I was also hoping for something simple and fairly quick ... wings should be fairly quick, right?
We arrived around 11:30 a.m. on a weekday and there was only maybe 12 or so folks there total and room for 50-100. We placed our order for wings and were told they would bring us out our food when it was ready.
The menu was quite extensive and we were happy to see a lot of choices for kids, besides just wings. There appeared to be only one person in the kitchen and one person working the front counter.
The format was a little confusing to me, and you pay in advance, so the decision on whether to tip or not ... or how much was a confusing one. So I didn't tip in advance, as it seemed dumb to tip before getting any service and the service seemed to just be the carry out your food only variety.
So we sat and took in the new place, which was nicely decorated and seemed to have a lot of tables, but no booths. It did look like it could be a fun place to FAC and maybe indulge in some beers with friends on occasion.
We were happy to see that the local police officers had discovered it and were starting to show up in pretty good numbers. We were also happy to see that the Medved employees had shown up in great numbers as well.
After about 30 minutes of waiting, we noticed a few folks finally started to get their food. Waiting seemed to be pretty normal, but waiting 35, 40 minutes for wings finally forced my wife to ask them about our order.
Basically they had totally forgotten about the part where you actually give the people their food. They explained that it takes a while for the sliders (the mini burgers in rolls you can order), which my wife had ordered.
So she told them "it takes 40 minutes for sliders? ... really?!" ... and they seemed to expect her to buy that excuse. Perhaps they shouldn't have printed the time on our receipt ... because it was all to easy to see how long we had waited for nothing.
Well I was proud of my wife for having the guts to ask for our money back, which they did do without hassle. After 45 minutes and no wings, we were starved and very disappointed that Wingin' It was truly "winging it" with us.
We saw several other folks that had been there about as long as us ... and I suspect they were in for a long wait as well. I sure hope the wings are worth the wait.
I think the one person in the kitchen was very overwhelmed, but I couldn't help but think how they would fare if this place has been 1/2 full, or even 3/4 full ... since they couldn't even serve customers when it was maybe 10-15% full.
Certainly not a good way to start a new business -- providing a miserable experience on the first visit. They certainly were not working hard to earn themselves a good reputation in this town.
We won't be back. Wingin' It just went up in flames for this family. I hope others have better experiences than we did.
Wingin' It! is located at 3980 Limelight Ave in Castle Rock, near the movie theatre complex at the entrance to the Meadows.

If you would like a great wingin' it! experience, please come to either the County Line @ Quebec or Dry Creek and University location. Castle Rock employees were trained by Javier, so what do you expect? This explains the great service you received!!

Brian, apology accepted ... I sincerly hope the problems get worked out. That fact that your posting here shows you care and are doing things to make it right. I hope to try Wingin It again sometime ... and see if things are better. I really would hate to see any new business fail, esp. one that is locally owned!

To Scott and anyone else who had a bad experience at Wingin' It in Castle Rock I would like to apologize to you & to make it up to you. We work hard to provide the best customer service and we welcome your comments so we can correct any problems. Both my wife and I live here in Castle Rock and only want to provide an excellent place for Castle Rock to go to for great wings and pleasant atmosphere. We started Wingin' It in Oct of '07 and it is solely owned by my wife and I. The other Wingin It's are owned by Derrol, but this is not a franchise. So please, feel free to e-mail me at winginit.cr@comcast.net or call me on my cell at (303)472-6723. We have been working through staff to develop the few that take their position seriously. Again, we welcome your feedback. Please accept our apology. Brian & Lynne Sorsby

Unfortunate that you had this experience here in Castle Rock. I feel if you could or would talk with the original owner of this franchise he would see to it to do whatever it would take to make amends. His original place is on Quebec and is EXCELLENT! His name is Derrol Morehead. Good Luck!
