Driving is a Privilege
Contributed by: Marina Ezznagui on 7/31/2006

In this country we do not have a right to own and operate a vehicle it is a privilege.

I am so tired of irresponsible adults driving like teenagers on their first joyrides. The lack of respect and common courtesy makes me wish there were more police on the roads.

I think that if you have too many tickets or complaints from other drivers you should have your license revoked. I would like to know why we ignore basic traffic laws. I saw a woman the other day making a left hand turn in a CLEARLY marked no left turn lane.

I mean even if you can't read or don't speak the language the signs have symbols to help you understand the rules. This blatant disregard for traffic laws is being passed onto another generation. How many stories have we heard in the news about young teenage drivers getting killed in traffic accidents? Too many!

The next time your children (no matter what age they are, because children learn from example) are in the car and you want to chat on the phone or run a stop sign; PLEASE think again. Those children will be driving on the road someday. They see mommy or daddy not paying attention, disregarding posted signs and they to will do that.

We have all at some time disregarded traffic rules but I for one will start to be a more responsible driver.
