To the voters in Douglas County School District
Contributed by: Fred Wucherpfennig on 10/18/2007

I am the incumbent in the District A School Board race, and I would appreciate your vote. I want you to be informed voters, so if you haven't already found this information, here are the candidates in District A, and their websites:

Naomi Helterbran http://www.helterbran.org/
Joan
Grady (website unknown)
Fred Wucherpfennig - i http://www.fredw.info/
Christopher J. Condie http://christophercondie.net/
Ryan Stuart http://www.ryanstuart.com/

Additionally, the Douglas County Federation hosted a Candidate Forum, and all candidates were invited to come and answer a number of questions. The Forum was recorded, and a video is available at http://www.dcft.net/

If you haven't voted yet, I encourage you to visit these sites and learn about the candidates. Why do I dare to suggest that you read up on my challengers too? Because I believe you will find a significant difference in knowledge, understanding, and effectiveness between my challengers and me, because of my vast experience working for the past 10 years on accountability, facility planning, and the Board of Education. But more importantly, I want you to make an informed decision.

I serve you on the Board because I care about students and taxpayers. Our schools are great, and I am working to make them even better. I have made significant contributions to the effectiveness of accountability in our District, and I will continue that work.

We already have great teachers, and I will continue to work to ensure we keep them and provide them the tools and training they need to be as effective as possible in teaching our students. I am careful with spending, and will continue to be a champion of sound fiscal policy.

I'm excited about some of the leading-edge things we are doing, like working with Hope Online to maximize the effectiveness of on-line education. I have a proven record of working together with others to help students.

I have the support of the majority of the current Board, teachers and administrators, and I'd love your support too. After you've done the research, I would very much appreciate your vote. I look forward to serving you for another 4 years.

Thank you.

Fred Wucherpfennig

Julia, your research should have told you that Fred was elected 6-0 even though there were other candidates. It should also have told you that Fred has been serving the taxpayers as a volunteer in the District for the past 10 years. It makes perfect sense to me to have him on the Board for another 4 years, since he's already proven that he makes a difference for students.

Another 4 years? I did my research as you suggested and was surprised to find that you were appointed to the board only 10 MONTHS ago. It is very misleading for you to use the term "another four years" and to say you are "running for re-election" on your website. Re-elect means to "elect again." Since you were never elected, how can you ask voters to elect you again? I don't see how I could entrust my children's education to someone who lets his ambition get in the way of the truth.
