Education: Who has the ultimate say?
Luke 6:40 NIV
"A
student
is not above his
teacher
, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his
teacher
.
I want to bring up the subject of our children's education this month. There are many things going on that most parents are unaware of, within the public school system. First let's take a look at what the people running our children's schools are up to.
Here is an excerpt from a news article on World Net Daily Dated 2/08/08:
"An 8-year-old boy is preparing to return to his home
school district
in Colorado as a girl, so school officials are designating two
school
restrooms as unisex facilities, and preparing to counsel other
students
on the issue of transgenderism."

Well there it is. This is an example of what dominantly atheist and homosexual friendly schools are up to these days. If your child is in a Public School you should be highly concerned.
They are being taught that alternative lifestyles are normal and acceptable. This is happening right here in Castle Rock. Frightening, isn't it? I assure you it won't be long before something like this occurs at a public school near you.
Now let's take a look at the corner we are being backed into by our wonderful judicial system. According to the United States Supreme Court, we as parents have absolutely no say about what is taught to our children once they enter a public school.
In Palmdale, CA children as young as seven years old were being given sexually explicit surveys to fill out. When the parents found out about this they took the issue all the way to the United States Supreme Court. In the Ninth Circuit case, Fields v. Palmdale School District, Justice Steven Reinhardt sent a clear message to parents everywhere.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled on November 2, 2005 that parents' fundamental right to control the upbringing of their children "does not extend beyond the threshold of the school door," and that a public school has the right to provide its students with "whatever information it wishes to provide, sexual or otherwise."
Well there you go. When your child enters a Public School you as a parent have no rights to object to anything being taught. I don't know about you but I find that sickening.
Many parents, who are informed, have taken steps to otherwise educate their children. Parents who have chosen to home school are now being attacked by a California Appeals Court. In a juvenile court ruling a precedent was set for the State of California, making it against the law essentially to Home School without a Teaching Degree.
It even includes punishments for choosing to home school. Right now the HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) is working through a petition to have this ruling depublished. This is a concern for home schooling families everywhere. It would only be a matter of time until this thinking spread east to other States and other courts fall into the foot steps of California.
Anyone can sign this petition whether you home school or not. I have already signed it online and would encourage everyone else to as well. To sign go to: www.hslda.org
Does anyone see what is going on here? We as parents are slowly having all kinds of doors shut on us in regards to our children. Atheists, Gay activists, and liberal judges all know one thing that many Christians are turning a blind eye towards. If they can shape our children's thinking at a young age, they can shape the future. What can we do?
Well, there are several things we can do. First if your child is in a public school you should be aware that they are in danger from a Christian stand point. Prayerfully consider other options for your child's sake. God will lead you in this and make a way if you trust Him.
If you need information on private Christian schools in the area or on home schooling, please leave me your email and I will gladly help you locate resources. I am happy to announce that I just recently started home schooling all of my children. I've home schooled my oldest for over a year and felt lead by the Lord to do the same with my other children as well.
Another powerful thing you can do is sign a petition online at: www.parentalrights.org This is a petition to have an amendment to the United States Constitution to prevent unreasonable government intrusion in the child-parent relationship.
Lastly stay informed about what is going on in regards to our children. I highly recommend Focus on the Family's website at www.family.org Be sure to get involved when and where you can, to let your voice be heard. Search out politicians who are for school choice, parent rights, and family values.
Then vote accordingly.
