Registration open for Courage Classic Tour in July
Contributed by: Angela Casolaro on 5/16/2007

Three-day Courage Classic Cycling Adventure Benefits The Children's Hospital, Offers Something For Everyone

Registration is open for the 18th annual Courage Classic, but the event is filling up quickly.
The 157-mile ride benefits the Children's Hospital in Denver and is set for July 21-23 at Copper Mountain. Last year's event was a record breaker and sell out with 2,000 riders raising more than $2 million.

Options for the tour include:
* The Courage Classic - Traditional three-day, 157-mile cycling adventure: July 21-23.
* The Century Option - On the tour's second day, advanced cyclists can head up Ute Pass to tackle 100 miles instead of the day's 54-mile route: Sunday, July 22.
* Taste of Courage - Presented by Frontier Airlines, this one-day ride has three route options and is for cyclists of all ages: Sunday, July 22.

No matter what they choose, riders will enjoy quiet backcountry roads, challenging mountain climbs and picturesque views of Colorado's high country. They will also be supporting one of the nation's top pediatric hospitals, The Children's Hospital.

More than 30 riders from Castle Rock will participate in the event this summer. Included among them are the members of Team Village Idiots: Allan Schurr, Becky Schmeits, Kevin Schmeits, Harper Howell, Lesia Rehl, John Rehl, Eric Tibby, Sara Tibby, and Susan Waltermire. Donations to The Children's Hospital on behalf of one of these riders can be made at www.couragetours.com/donate.
There is no processing fee for an online donation.

Riders are encouraged to register soon as the tour is filling up quickly. To register, visit www.couragetours.com/register. Online registration is $105 for adults, $60 for children. This fee includes on-course lunch on Saturday and Sunday, the finish line lunch on Monday, and a 2007 Courage Classic T-shirt. Adult riders must raise a minimum of $250 in donations; children must raise $125.

Registration for Taste of Courage is $25 for adults and $15 for children 15 and under. Taste of Courage riders must raise a minimum of $150 (adults) or $75 (child) in donations. Family, friends, neighbors and colleagues can easily support riders by donating online directly to riders' personal pages at www.couragetours.com.

Since its inception, and thanks to thousands of generous participants and supporters, The Children's Hospital Courage Classic has raised more than $15 million for the hospital. These funds allow Children's to continue the construction of its state-of-the-art facility on the Fitzsimons campus (set to open in October) and continue to provide programs throughout the community, including The Hospital Sports Program, The Children's Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, The Children's Hospital Heart Institute and the Newborn Center.

Media sponsors for the event are 9News and Alice 105.9. For more information on The Children's Hospital Courage Classic, please visit www.couragetours.com or call 303-456-9704.
