DC Rockers Head Coach Mark Favaro & Assistant Coaches Mark Ziomek, Nick Morrone, Erik Nielson, and Russ Brady lead the team to their 3rd World Series Championship win on Tuesday, July 8th, 5:00 PM at Metzler's Ballpark in Castle Rock. The DC Rockers were down in the bottom of the 6th inning and with two outs rallied to beat the Centennial Panthers 10-9 for the title of
10 YEAR OLD AYL WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS
.
Good solid pitching throughout the game was provided by Luke Morrone, Daryl Myers, and Clayton Nielsen. In the bottom of the 6th inning, the pressure was on. With two outs the Rockers rallied hits from Michael Wunderlich, Justin Favaro, Clayton Nielsen, Bobby Rexroat, Colin Baehman, Nicky Lamb, Colton Teets and Gage Brady. With runners on 2nd and 3rd base, Tyler Henninger hit the game winning base hit which scored two runs and clinched the World Series victory for the DC Rockers.
The Rockers ended their magical 2008 season with a 14-4 regular season record and became the best 10 year old competitive team in Castle Rock by capturing the AYL World Series Title. The team also played in 5 regional tournaments and qualified for the USSSA Colorado State Championships, Triple Crown Colorado State Championships and Triple Crown World Series.
Coach Marc Favaro has coached DC baseball for the past five years. He will be holding 11 year old DC Rocker tryouts in mid-August so if your child wants to play competitive baseball, turns 11 by May 1st 2009, and be a part of a championship team, call Marc at (303) 663-9512 to inquire about open positions and tryout dates.
