Mishap doesn't down a determined runner
Contributed by: Donna Scheer on 9/1/2007

On Aug. 31 at the Morris Vogel Cross Country Invitational during the Varsity Boys race there was a problem. A young man wearing red yellow and black hit a pole on the race course infront of Sid Scheer from Douglas County High School (DCHS).

He was kneed by another runner, as he adjusted to get out of the tangle where the other runner hit the pole. He continued the course and around the first mile marker Sid was in 40th position.

Max Gerkin
was leading the DCHS team in 17th position.Sid with determination kept pushing on. The DCHS varsity boys finished strong with a 6th place finish. Sid Scheer lead the team with an amazing 17:55 time and a 13th place finish. Followed by the rest of the team Max Gerkin, Chris Marbury, Andrew Ballinger, Jake Williams, and Zak Adams.

Sid will be a runner to watch as the cross country season progresses.
