The season that started last August has finally come to an end. Football, more specifically 5A football.
The game was a nail bitter from start to finish. First Grandview would score then Douglas County would score.
The game wasn't only close in score but also ability and referee calls. At every turn there was a drama unfolding. These two teams were so evenly matched it made for one of the most enjoyable playoff games to watch no matter which side or job duty you might have had during this meeting of titans.
The game was so evenly matched that it came down to a decision that would go into overtime play. The winning score happened in the hands of
Bo Bolen of Grandview. It was only moments into overtime play that Bo ran the ball into the end zone.
Grandview would miss the extra point, then next would come Douglas County's turn to try to score. They just couldn't make it happen. With penalties and failed attempts, they went away with a second place 5A trophy.
Bo Bolen is probably the single most reason why Grandview won the State 5A Title, not slighting any of the other members of the "Wolves" football team or coaching staff.
It is just that he has exceptional ability at running back and his record reflects that --
Leading Rusher in the League.
Both of these teams have an abundance of talent and they have both provided hours of entertainment to fans throughout this season. The final score in overtime was 20 to 14, making Grandview the 5A State Champions.
