Huskies Varsity co-ed cheerleaders bring home GOLD

Friday, November 30th marks a very proud "First" in the history of the Douglas County High School Varsity Co-Ed Cheerleaders.

This is the one day that all competitive cheerleaders work toward throughout the school year. Yes, the Colorado High School Activities, (CHSAA), 2007 State Spirit Championship at the Denver Coliseum.

And the 5A State Co-Ed Championship winner is.... Douglas County! What a ride. This team has had an amazing track record this year:

October 13th, Americheer Regionals - 1st Place
November 3rd, USA Regionals - 1st Place
November 10th, UCA Regionals - 1st Place
November 14th, Continental League - 1st Place
November 17th, NCA Regionals - 1st Place
November 30th, CHSAA State Championship - 1st Place

Next stop, Nationals in Orlando, Florida in February 2008. Stay tuned...

This team is very lucky to have two great dedicated and wonderful coaches. Coach Nicole Gambatese and Coach Jon Baron invest many hours daily to insure a winning team.

Also, great supporters of the team include Coach Amanda VanSwearinger, Gary and Heather Hartman, Team Manager Daniel Ballez, Conditioning Coach Lon Smithand Athletic Director Bill Lenz.

The DCHS Varstiy Co-Ed Athletes: Carlene Andersen, Andie Azofeifa, Morgan Ballinger, Kyle Eller, Lisa Fikany, Renae Golden, Shayne Henry, Zacharia Hopkins, Alexandra Janssen, Paige Lefevre, Ryan Leonard, Callea Mahagan, Natalie Marusin, Bri McKenna, Talia Pelley, Tara Proctor, Mica Seybold, Paige Smith, Caitlin Vaughn, Kristen Weatherly, Hope Wellman, Katie Wilson and John Woodrick.

Congratulations to the DCHS Varsity Co-Ed Cheerleaders. All of your hard work has paid off beautifully!

Congratulations to our Douglas County H.S. Co-Ed Cheerleading Varsity Team and coaches on thier 2007 State Championship win. WOW! You did it! Four years in the making! We are so proud of all of you and thank you for your hardwork and dedication. To our daughter Hope Wellman what an accomplishment you have made. Congrats and Thank you for working so hard. Congratulations to the DCHS Co-Ed Varsity team and coaches! You all looked amazing!! What an awsome season you have had and I'm sure all of your hard work and dedication will pay off at Nationals in February! A huge thanks to Nicole and Jon for their time and dedication to this team. Awesome - Congratulations DCHS Varsity Co-Ed Cheers and a big thank you to Nicole and Jon - #1 Coaches -for your dedication and time. I would like to congratulate my daugher, Callea Mahagan.
