Thrills at the International golf tournament
Contributed by: Barbara Neff on 8/13/2006

Though I'm no golf enthusiast, I have to admit getting swept up in the spirit of the sport today at the International here in Castle Pines Village.

Residents of Castle Pines Village are treated annually during the International to food and beverages each day of the tournament at a "Hospitality Tent" situated between the 16th tee and the 16th green. Excitement permeates the air at the Hospitality Tent and all around. The buzz of friendly conversation alternates with respectful hush as famous golfers come and go. A media crush darts here and there toting equipment. Herds of spectators move about. The beauty of the course is breathtaking.

I snapped a few shots near the Hospitality Tent today before being asked by a tournament volunteer to put my camera away. I complied meekly.

At this hour, 3:30 p.m., Tom Lehman and Dean Wilson are tied for the lead. If Steve Flesch makes a birdie on Hole 18, he, too, will be tied with Lehman and Wilson for the win, which will result in a three-golfer play-off. Who will win this world renowned sporting event right here in our community?

Thrilling stuff indeed!

I like the way you can be positive about a sport you are not excited about. Your writing shows a great attitude.
