Chamber golf tournament an in-the-cup success
Contributed by: Todd McPherson on 6/16/2006

Whether you are bragging to your co-workers about your score in the Castle Rock Chamber 2006 Golf Tournament on June 12 th or the fact that your boss let you play the award-winning golf course, Red Hawk Ridge, where the annual tournament was played this year in Castle Rock, the commentary is the same. Simply spectacular!

And that is just what the day held for a field of 100 players who enjoyed a perfect day of cloudless skies and temperatures in the 90s. The winning foursome of the scramble format, Jason Gray, Tom and Dave Gembel and Dave Owen, managed to stay focused amid the Front Range vistas and turned in a score of 55, or 21 under par, to win the coveted traveling trophy for the second year in a row.

CoWest Insurance Group served as Title Sponsor, with golf shirts provided by FirstBank of Douglas County and golf hats by Pinnacol Assurance. Aquila sponsored Breakfast and Red Hawk Ridge sponsored a BBQ lunch as well as many of the tournament prizes for longest drive and putt and closest to the pin.

Many courses boast a signature hole or two, but Red Hawk Ridge presented golfers with one breathtaking view after another. Nestled in the Rocky Mountain foothills, many tees feature sweeping panoramas of Castle Rock, surrounding buttes and the Colorado Rockies. Unfortunately, nobody was lucky enough to drive away with the shiny red Mustang convertible offered as the Hole-in-One prize by Medved Autoplex of Castle Rock.
