Rockers teams hold first intramural tournament
Contributed by: DC Dolphins on 6/2/2008

The 11 year-old AAA Rocker teams held the first ever Rockers intramural tournament on Saturday May 31, at Paintbrush Park in Castle Rock.

Rockers Gray, coached by Josh Reel, Rockers Purple, coached by Les Feka, and the Castle Rock Rockers coached by Jimmie Acosta spent the day having some good ole fashioned fun.

The teams first participated in round robin baseball play, then individual competitions, BBQ/picnic and a free-for-all squirt gun fight. In the individual competition, the athletes first tested their speed with baserunning.

Trey Vann took first place with a close second going to Chris Givin, followed by Andrew Longacher taking third. In the next event, the athletes demonstrated their arm strengh with a throw for distance.

The longest throws went to Chris Givin, Charles Simms and Matt Anderson. And finally they showed off their power hitting in a home run derby with bragging rights going to Charles Simms and Matt Anderson.

Tremendous power drives by Michael Paul, Caden Simpson, Justin Toler, Ryan Connolly, Dalton Bear, Nate Whalen and Bryce Dietz all came up just shy of the winning distance.

At the end of the day, the players and families went home enjoying a new love for the game having formed new friendships and an appreciation for their fellow Rockers.

Go Rockers!!!!!!!!!
